A Little Change of Pace

Last weekend, we headed up to Naperville for our nearly annual Clean the Condo event. The tenants left it in fair shape this time, but were clearing too busy moving out to remember to scrub down the place afterwards. So in goes Team Jensen: the first night we put down our sleeping bags and picked up the scrubbers and bleach to tackle the appalling-looking bathrooms. After all, we had to use them!

For the non-Facebook readers' amusement, I came up with this course description in what should be a community college course, or maybe the "New Renter's Inservice on How to Move In and Move Out". Titled The Clean Bathroom: Course Description- a systematic review of home hygiene methods for bathrooms. Starting with basic subjects such as "The Appearance of Clean" and "Understanding the Difference- Shabby Chic vs Frankly Shabby", we will progress to specialized topics including "The Judicious Application of Bleach in Mildew Management;" "Advanced Scrubbing Techniques;" "Use of the Brillo and related technologies" and "Highly Effective Approaches to Soap-scum".

Thankfully, the next day, we cleared our heads every couple of hours of Lysol later with a leisurely breakfast catching up with Jeff's lovely elderly friends in the condo community (no one else comes to breakfast typically!), a visit to Clif and Amy, and a walk along the DuPage river into Naperville for dinner. Clif and Amy are relocating to Manhattan for Clif's residency: Amy parent's hosted a lovely graduation party for him and an almost-First Birthday Party for little Charlotte. She's hearing well with her hearing aids, but wears her hoodie to keep her little hands off of them... quite the cute little button she is!

Sunday we went to Mass... cleaned a little more... lunch at the Jensen's in Chicago... cleaned a little more... and made it home in time for bed, with a detour through the small town of Ladd, for famous fried chicken at Luneti's. It was tasty. The 1940's vibe was even better, and it was completely family run that night. No pictures, but we'll take the next road-tripping summer visitor who stops by our abode! (Beware, though, if you see a trend here... you might end up cleaning and organizing something...)

DuPage River, Naperville - Swollen and brisk with rain!

 The park ranger's got company....

 Congrats to Clif!

And so much fun (and cake and kisses) for Charlotte.
