A Few Good Shots

From the walk through 1st & 2nd Streets, Evansville to sunset over Apalachicola Bay, there have been innumerable beautiful "pictures" waiting to be captured. Some, I did! The disadvantage of blogging by i-phone is being unable to load my regular camera to the blog until I sit at a regular computer. A separate challenge is the eye-to-camera discrepancy: between stops we're cruising along at ground level, with fence posts, other persistently obstructing cars and electric wires whizzing past at 65 mph. I can see the rolling farm fields and how the dirt goes from black in Illinois to sandier in southern Indiana to frankly orange-red midway down Kentucky. (It stays red to Florida!) The beautiful Kentucky farms and hills, just turning green. The historic cabins on campus at the University in Bowling Green (just as you round the bend in morning traffic, no braking!)... Alabama's fields and endless roadside curiosities (such as lived- in log cabins / shanties, antique shops and random restored airplanes. The F-22 jets circling overhead multiple time as we drove through Tyndall Airforce Base near Panama City, FL. Hard to capture all that unless you hop out each time; that would be a lot even for a meandering road trip like ours.
Here are a couple glimpses from Jeff & my phones...
Day 1. Homes from Evanston.
Day 2. The most loved Corvette of all time (Corvette Museum, Bowling Green Kentucky - even the under-educated side kick to the Car Enthusiast in our company had a good time. I can appreciate good architecture and beautiful lines of design in all forms!)
Dinner at MacK & Kate's, a local restaurant of the Nashville area. After sitting out the rain, getting damp and chilled, there was delicious tomato bisque with goat cheese, fried green tomatoes (have to try it in the South!) and the lobster mac & cheese the place is known for. Yum!
Day 3. Some great pics from Birmingham's Civil Rights Park (not posted) and Fort Rucker's Museum of Aviation History! (Also responsible for the roadside airplanes that caught our attention and sent us on a 2-hr detour... er, excursion.)
Day 4. Wake up looking out to Apalachicola Bay, oyster source for 60% of Florida's oysters. A good morning view and breeze. Only problem, the video of the lodge's peacock's didn't "take"! Sigh. That's why we have memories. :)
