Today I write from The Cypress House B&B in old town Key West. This coffee cup's perspective is taking in palms and breezes.... Actually I just finished the last post. After finishing that cup of coffee we had breakfast and enjoyed another day at Key West.
We came into the Keys on Sunday, spending it the way Sunday should be spent, with family and friends. Mass at St Lucie's (where else?) in Port St Lucie, a short chat with Uncle David, then a poolside grill out with old friend's of Jeff who moved from St Jude's (Dunlap) to Miami last year. It was so nice to meet them and have a warm family welcome. We didn't jump in the pool with the kids & cousins, since we were getting back on the road, but ate well and took in tales of acclimating to life in Florida. This included learning to grow and harvest bananas and mulberries (a new, delicious taste for me!) in their garden, and reporting small gators when they show up in the canal at the end of the property. Apparently authorities will only feel obliged to collect beasts greater than 4 ft. Shorter than that, they may pick the offender up as an act of beneficence, but maybe not. Cheers!
We ultimately arrived in Key Largo & Islemarada, and found Jeff's great uncle Cazi, Uncle Micki, cousin Andy and a few old family friends waiting for us... After much catching up in life and family history - and tasty ribs (followed by layered key lime cake!) thanks to being invited to our second Florida BBQ in one day - we turned in at the Creekside Inn,
