Lakes to Lakes

Monday's route would take us from the Lake District of New Hampshire to the lakes and rivers of Aroostook County, Maine- otherwise known as The County.

Southern Lake Winnepesaukee, New Hampshire

Blue sky, blue water, smells like evergreens.. A perfect afternoon for both travel and leisure.

Stopped in Alton, NH, a tiny vacation town...

Great for a walk...

... and for lunch!

We've marked Amilyne's for a return trip: fresh-made bread, heaping sandwiches, and home-made doughnuts, with a side of friendly chatting. It's always an interesting story to find out how people land in these small towns.

Relaxing. Just once.
After all, it IS vacation.

Whoa- we are finally in Maine!

Mt Katahdin, Baxter State Park, at sundown.... off of I-95N.

Our driving ambitions might be wearing us out, but this is worth it!

Another hour or so north, and we happily lodged at the Old Iron Inn, Caribou, NH.

We rested and breakfasted well here!
